Description:

Kushnir Studios is a warm and inviting space where students can experience high quality instruction in a relaxed and nurturing environment.

We offer a wide variety of instructional classes that range from cartooning to fine art.

Taught by our group of professional artists, there will be an availability to try different mediums such as acrylic paints, watercolor paints, chalk and oil pastels, pen and ink, collage and 3D design.

Ronit Kushnir - Fine ArtsMixed Media

Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday 6:30-8:30 & 6:30-9:00 pm and Thursday 4:00 - 6:00 pm

Art classes are divided into two parts. The first part will consist of fine art technique, in drawing, shading, painting, and mixing of colours.

The second part of the class allows the student to self explore their creativity through independent projects in a medium of their choice. There will be an introduction and students will be encouraged to try different mediums such as, acrylic paints, watercolour paints, chalk and oil pastels, collage, mixed media, and 3D design.

Shannie Van Buren -Introduction to cartoon drawing and lettering

Monday 4:00 - 6:00 pm 

Cartooning Stage1: In this introductory course, students will focus on the basics of drawing funny. if you have never had an art course before, not to worry! If you can draw basic shapes or you are a compulsive doodler, you will do just fine. The lessons will cover tips and techniques. Students will learn to draw cartoon faces, places and things through numerous practical excersises. They will practice design, proportion, expression and body language. Students will also be exposed to learning how to hand letter like a professional. Through this practice, they will create their own characters and feature them in a comic story that they will write.

Cartooning Stage 2: Dive into the world of comic book making. Students will create their own cast of characters and bring them to life by throwing them into poses with other characters, objects and environments. They will then write and draw their own multi-page story and learn how to lay out, copy, and fold and staple their own comic book!  

Melanie Siegel - Fiber Arts, Textiles and Felted Jewelry

Tuesday 4:00 - 6:00 pm (kids age 10+)

The following projects are included in this session        

1) Painting with felt. A study of the Group of Seven. Water colour effects in painting with fleece and textile.

2) Deconstruction and construction of an article of clothing (eg. ripped jeans or jean vest/jacket). Students will make patches of felt to overlay on vest/jacket or on jeans. Simple embroidery stitches will be introduced.

3) Felted jewelry. Students will create a thick felted bracelet. Beadwork will be introduced for embellishment.

4) Felted pillows, to include embroidery and embellishment.

5) Stichery pictures on fabric scrap collage.

(Note: Some or all of these projects will be included in the session. As well, these programs are also available for workshops , corporate and private events as well as birthday parties)                                                                                                          

The cost for classes includes materials. There may be a nominal fee for supplies if students choose to pursue other mediums such as resin, clay or oil paints; this will be discussed for approval beforehand.

There is no refund for missed classes, but makeup classes will be available.
